As we're in the middle of December, most people are starting to incorporate Christmas music into their set lists. Let's share our set lists for this past weekend and next and see what everyone is doing this season!

Kinda late, just joined, but... Over the last couple weeks and into Christmas:

Baloche: Joy to the World / Shout for Joy

Baloche: O Come All Ye Faithful / We Adore You

Baloche: Hark the Herald Angels Sing / King of Heaven

Tomlin: Silent Night

Baloche has some really great Christmas medleys! Of course they are all tied to his songs. :) haha! Good stuff though. If you like medleys, you should check out this slightly older one from Vineyard of "Angels We Have Heard On High / Glory To God":

It's always a favorite one of mine to do as it is very worshipful. Plus it's in 6/8 and gives a great feel.

With Christmas on Sunday we decided that Christmas eve we'd have the children's program at 5, the choir / candlelight service at 7, and then then the band (or at least me and a guitar) will do something Christmas Day at 10.  I think I'll be there running sound for both Christmas Eve services.  Then New Year's Day the band gets it off, except one of us will have to be there to run sound for that. Both services look like they'll be very flexible and informal (and forgiving if the 1/1/17 sound guy falls asleep for part of it).

Well, hey, the 5 pm children's service bulletin just showed up...  there is a plan.  Guess I can get on with the MediaShout for that (speaking of which, can anybody with current-ish MS help me out with my question over in the A/V thread?).

Now that we're on the other side of Christmas... name a song or two (with artist please) that you did this Christmas season that went over really well at your church. The rest of us can make note and consider it for next year!

Back in 1997, I got around to recording "my Christmas album."  I had decided that I wasn't going to include any of the "common" Christmas carols, "Silent Night" or any of that... anyway, I spun a copy of it the other day for our pastor and listened a couple times before I gave it to her, and the song that stuck in my head was an old carol called "Maria Wandered Through The Thorn."  And so as sort of a last minute thought, I did that song as our "offertory" song for our Christmas Day service.

Here's the original studio version; which has a lot more going on than the acoustic guitar / bass / singer version I did last Sunday...
