Hi all! I am brand-new to this site but very excited to join you! I find tons of slow worship songs that are very moving, but I struggle to find fast songs that really connect. Any suggestions?
I've taken I Am Free and Sing Sing Sing play them in D capo up 1/2 step ( 1st fret) and run one right into the other . The key is manageable and the congregation seems to love it.
Hello Suzy,
We were just going through the same 'dilemna' recently with a lot of good reflective type songs and only a few uptempo numbers. We've done a few older well known worship songs with a much faster beat, and that has gone over real well. We have also found a few nuggets that don't get played in most churches, but have really caught on here because of the message they contain.
"Set Me On Fire" from 'The Burn Service' cd----this one has caught the mood of our church in that we're tired of church as usual and know there's so much more God has for us. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G8scuJB6jck&feature=related
"One Way" Hillsong United----more popular, but still not overdone in churches. We don't have this much instrumentation, but it sounds as great with a smaller team as it does here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NXE8FR_6o5w&feature=related
Also, Kutless is a well known Christian band that has taken some older worship material and redone it in their unique style. "Take Me In" is one of many that we do by them that have been very well received with the fresh take. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q0cuOawD_I8
I can send you chord sheets to any of these, but there are sites on the web where this stuff is available.
May God bless your search,
Mike
