Sometimes I feel thrashed by the enemy. Especially right before a new event. It seems that when I most need to be preparing and practicing that people come at me from every angle. I am performing tomorrow night at a small restaurant and it is my hope and the owners desire to have a worship service there in the near future.
At the same time three different people (men) found ways to find fault with me and discount my feelings. Also, I took a fall on some concrete and banged myself up a bit.
I really feel inadequate and afraid. I know I can not do this without Jesus. The town I am entering in is less than 1% churched and there is lots of Wicca and Buddhist Worship. It is crank infested and very toxic.
I would appreciate prayer and also hearing about others' experiences and suggestions which arise from the Holy Spirit's leading.

Hi Sonshine. I'm convinced spiritual warfare happens all the time. From my experience the closer you get to doing something significant to advance God's kingdom here on earth, the more random events get in your way and try to make you fail. Stay strong, it sounds like you have a huge opportunity to effect some lives in a big way. I feel inadequate most of the time in one way or another when it comes to doing what I feel God wants me to do. Remember, God always used people in the bible that were ill prepared for what he asked of them. But he always gave them just what they needed when they needed it to succeed. Put your trust and self worth in God, not those around you. If others find fault and tear you down, remember you don't have to please them if you feel you are pleasing God. That also means you don't have to do everything everyone else is asking of you all the time. If people are coming at you from all directions demanding your time evaluate if you must respond to each of those, if so, does it have to be right now? I'm a "yes" person and it's very hard for me to say "no" or "no right now" but sometimes I have to do it to make the time I know I need to prepare for something big like this. I'll be praying for you.
You're not alone. Things seem to crop up most often just before an event or sermon or whatever. If it makes you feel any better, it may not always be the enemy. I find this phenomenon to exist in all areas and with every person who strives for excellence, even when they are not believers.

The restaurant gig - is this a Christian venue?
Hi Sonshine!
Don't forget to cover yourself with the Blood of Jesus. It's the best protection we have as believers. Praying for you!!
Hi Sonshine,

I think when we get attacked like this from all sides, it's confirmation that we are on the right track, if that's any consolation. At the the risk of being shot down, and no offence meant to any of your wonderful guys on here, but being a woman musician, I too often come up against opposition from men, and you know, one negative comment feels like it strips away all the positives. Like Stevo says, you are not alone and I can relate so well to what you are saying.

I will be thinking of you are praying for you too, and hope you will let us know how your restaurant venue goes. May our precious Lord bless and protect you in all you do.

I think there is a load of truth in that when you are seeking to do something for God, the enemy really wants to tug and pull you away from the goal. If God is for us, who can be against us....
Dear James,

Thanks for the good Word, the scripture. Sometimes we get so distracted by the attacks (or fear thereof) that we lose sight of the One who made us and cares for us....
And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

(Matthew 10:28 ESV)

Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

(1 John 4:4 ESV)
Yep, sometimes we just need reminding that God has it all in hand, and that we have nothing to fear. 'Do not be afraid' - written so many times in the Bible. Praise be to our God.
Attacks on worship leaders seems to be common place for the enemy. Praise and worship can silence him. Psalm 8:2. Praise shows faith in God and faith changes situations with the power of God. I wrote two different articles about the enemies tactics. I hope they help you. I will be praying for you.
James said to resist him and he will flee. In that same context, he associates resisting the devil to being humble, pure and obedient as opposed to proud, contentious and greedy. To me, that's how you resist Satan. And Jesus clearly stated that we are not to fear him.

But be careful not to let your fall on the concrete and the people who are criticizing you be your focus. Instead, you will be tempted by your own desires and flesh to become bitter and frustrated. This is your real enemy - your own sin nature.

But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death.

(James 1:14-15 ESV)
Bottom-line, without sounding too blunt...

If you've been called to this ministry by the Lord, then (like Paul) you'll need to adopt the following mindset:
Ac 20:24 "But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life dear to myself, so that I may finish my race with joy, and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.

Nothing will disarm the adversary quicker than being steadfast to move forward despite his attacks; if he can rattle your cage, then he will. However, if you go forward regardless of how things "appear", then you'll accomplish the work God's called you to accomplish by His grace, walking by faith.
1Co 15:58 ¶ Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

Well said. And I might add that very few passages even give attention to Satan. So should we give very little attention to his schemes. Instead, we need to keep trusting the one who is in us and greater than him.
