'Worship Moment' Competition - Win A Copy Of Power Music - ENDS TODAY! (Fri 13th Nov)

We've got 3 copies of Power Music to giveaway thanks to our friends at Cambron Software . If you haven't heard of Power Music before then check out a review I did of it a couple of days ago here.

We've had a some great suggestions from our members for a fun competition and i've incorporated a few of them to come up with the following:

For your chance to win a copy of Power Music simply submit a Video or Photo of a "Worship Moment". What I mean by this is a worship related video or photo. Feel free to mention 'Worship The Rock .com' at some point in it or on it.

So, be creative, be funny, or be serious - it's up to you!


Examples of "Worship Moment" videos & photos might be:


- Video of you singing a well known worship song with different words (e.g. see here)

- Video of you singing the wrong word or phrase to a song by accident

- Video of you playing a song with the capo in the wrong place, or tripping up, or smacking the microphone with your teeth etc

- Photo of you leading worship in a cool place: e.g. beach, top of tall building, in a cave ?!

- Funny photo of you practicing a worship song

- A special worship moment


I'm sure you'll be more creative than this though - think outside the box and follow these rules please:


1) Videos should be no longer than 2 minutes (preferably under 1 minute).

2) Videos should ideally refer people to Worship The Rock .com, either by someone mentioning it or simply by having a screen at the end with the link on.

3) Photos should ideally have the words 'Worship The Rock .com' on it somewhere.

4) Please only submit a maximum of 3 entries per person.

5) Submit your videos or photos by posting them on this discussion. Either embed the videos from YouTube, assuming they're there, or add a link to a video you've uploaded to Worship The Rock. If it's a photo just post the photo or a link to the photo.

6) The deadline is Friday 13th November 2009. Don't worry about timezones - I'll make sure the cut off point allows for all timezones.

7) Have fun! - (this is a must!)


I'll pick the 3 winners from all entries and each of the winners will get their very own copy of the full version of Power Music 2.0.

N.B. (Please only submit a video or photo that you're happy to be used publicly - we may for example post some of the videos on a YouTube channel and email them around).

I understand the misconception if only the title of this posting was read and not the paragraph that followed.......that being said this is not a contest for best worship or anything thereof. Rather it's a contest/opportunity to show some of the dumb/human things that have happened when one is leading worship.

I realize I may get 'stoned' for this, but am I the only one who thinks it's healthy to be able to laugh at ourselves?? Case in point: this past Sunday, we were singing a very upbeat, happy song (a cumbia) that talks about praising God joyfully. I made the sign for us to repeat the 1st verse instead of going straight into the chorus. Well, the singers (all of them!) didn't see me. So, in front of about 300 people, I started singing the 1st verse and EVERYONE else started singing the chorus. And not in that nice, layered way. I just smiled at the singers...chuckled a bit...shrugged my shoulders and kept on singing. This was one of my favorite moments this past Sunday. Why? Because I felt that it made us more 'human' to the congregation. More relatable. We're not perfect. We make mistakes. But, we can laugh about them. We can worship thru them, too. I hope no one is offended by this comment.

Priscilla, I an so offended. lololol.. just kidding. I remember a set I was doing at my home church calvary chapel which happens to be home to "Maranatha Music" I was nervous to be playing in front of real worship leaders/ musicians. I was singing lead on the last song "shine Jesus shine" and on the chorus outta nowhere my voice hit such a high outta control pitch like back in my pre- puberty days...Almost like a little girl screaming, talk about being embarrassed, there was so many people trying not to laugh and some just smiling in love but you know they were dying inside. I got roasted after wards but it was all good im a joker all day long. As to your post maybe the title should of been more towards embarrassing human moments. But like others here I see no foul, or lack of love for true worship. in his grip. Ernie

Oh, if I could count the amount of times I've done that. LOL

I'ts good to be able to laugh at ourselves...I always try and encourage folk to have fun while we worship....even if that means we mess up from time to time. I often find that if you try to fix a mistake as opposed to rolling with it then things end up getting worse!

If the congregation see you having fun then they tend to join in.

Wish I had the video of the time where I got ahead of myself and walked off the platform mid-sentence because I didn't know how to finish. I said "everybody turn and greet your neighbors AND......" turned and walked away.

One of my most commonly used phrases is "If I don't laugh, then I'll cry." Its good to realise that as well as being a Christian (by God's grace), I am also a fully paid up member of the "I'm human and I mess up a LOT" club. I have done and will continue to do many, many things that make me cringe and want the ground to swallow me up and if I couldn't laugh at myself it would be a sad thing. It helps to stop me getting too big for my boots and there's nothing wrong with humility to remind me that without God, I would be nothing. I imagine God as having a great sense of humour ~ He must look at me and chuckle a lot.
Phil, I welcome this competition as a means of showing others that we're not serious about ourselves or too proud of our role within the church, but that our hearts are devoted to praising and worshipping God. Praise His holy name x x

I'm with pretty much everyone who has posted. I think the spirit of the competition is fantastic and I will submit an entry at some point soon. I like the title though because, as stated in the description, it's not just embarrassing stuff. It's a competition to find true worship moments whether they are funny or serious. It's neat to see different people's perspectives and ideas of what is worship in picture/video form and not just a dictionary definition. Kudos for the idea!

yes HE is THE truth and the only way , by the grace of GOD that had gaven us ,BUT we WANT more ,,,? why ???? is that we are greedy of ?? NO because we LOVE GOD , we want more of HIM , by the words , by the grace , by the th , by the HIS love , by HIS our FATHER IN HEAVEN that what HE do we follow , humbed obey , that LORD GOD were lead the way well , it ok that we sufferings of ... do you not known beside than that we had learn , we had A GOD that teach us , YES we REJOICE in the LORD AMEN ,, my bro and sis in christ or who are not , but our LORD GOD is the way , be peace with you MAY river of god flow with more love and blessing AMEN

i don't have a video or picture of this, but a few years ago i was leading worship at a christmas service. so most of the songs were christmas songs. we had toned down the service at a particular point and were singing "silent night." i don't know about any of you, but i find that "silent night" almost always releases an anointing of peace and rest into the room when it is sung. this time was no different. we finished singing the song. it was beautiful. it was quiet. it was peaceful. i took a moment to switch keyboard sounds in prep for the next song. i didn't look as closely as i should have at what keyboard number i was selecting, i guess, because when i went to play the first notes of the next song, out came the loud siren noise: "WEE-OO-WEE-OO-WEE-OO-WEE-OO..."

o well. everyone adjusted, and life goes on.
