Native Texan Mario de la Torres began playing guitar in Navasota the official blues capitol of Texas. Mario played with several cover bands in southeast Texas performing at regional events, opening for major label artists, including Texas World Speedway concerts.
A prayer and a supernatural encounter with God changed his life and Mario began working with Christian bands and ministries in the Dallas area.
He has had the privilege of working with Daystar television, Behind the Wire Prison Ministry, gospel legend Dorothy Norwood, Cynthia Greene of Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, Christ Temple Choir, Phillips Craig and Dean, Mikaila, Ted Pearce, Big Methuselah, and praise and worship artist Rohn Bailey. Big Methuselah's CD "Human Sacrifice" was featured in "7 ball" Top 20 Unsigned Artists Who Rock along with Mercy Me and Pillar.
Jesus told us to, "Go the whole world over, and proclaim the Good News to all mankind."
Using the gifts and talents God has given to him Mario decided it was time to do what Jesus had commanded. He began writing and producing original music in 2005 and his 1st instrumental CD "Sojourn" featured a unique mix of Santana style guitar with electronica soundscapes. He continued in ministry and instrumental music over the next few years and released several instrumental CDs.
Mario has performed at various events and venues in the North Texas and Oklahoma area including Dallas Southside Arts festival and Dallas' Deep Ellum.
In 2010 Mario began work on a Blues-Rock CD "New Beginnings" which was released in 2012. Stand out cuts include "King Jesus" and "I'm Free". Mario lifts up the name of Jesus and continues exploring the Blues idiom from a Christian view. A new CD is scheduled for release in 2016.
Mario de la Torres' live concerts are not the standard blasé' Christian worship experience, but are always fresh and always real.
