A Little Goes a Long Way

So today I was reading my journals while working at the church office and a few things stuck out to me. One of these was out of Mark 4. I love this passage

Mark 4:30-32

30 Then He said, “To what shall we liken the kingdom of God? Or with what parable shall we picture it? 31 It is like a mustard seed which, when it is sown on the ground, is smaller than all the seeds on earth; 32 but when it is sown, it grows up and becomes greater than all herbs, and shoots out large branches,… Continue

Good Thoughts: The Spirit Of The Moment Is The Spirit Of Planning

A number of years back I was talking with a friend about my desire to develop in my ability to lead spontaneously in worship. I longed to pray prayers, sing songs, and speak words that were given in the moment by the Sprit. Because that's the only way the Spirit works, right? I'll never forget my friends response. He looked up at me and said "Dan, the same Spirit that leads in the moment leads in the planning."

Over the years I have… Continue

The Coach

"By entering through faith into what God has always wanted to do for us—set us right with him, make us fit for him—we have it all together with God because of our Master Jesus. And that's not all: We throw open our doors to God and discover at the same moment that he has already thrown open his door to us. We find ourselves standing where we always hoped we might stand—out in the wide open spaces of God's grace and glory, standing tall and shouting our praise.

Good Thoughts: Tim Keller On Idolatry

I just came across this quote which a friend of mine posted on his blog. I don't really know anything about the author but the quote is great...

From Tim Keller’s new book, Counterfeit Gods:

What is an idol? It is anything more important to you than God, anything that absorbs your heart and imagination more than God, anything you seek to give you what God could only give.

A counterfeit God is anything so central and essential to your life that, should you… Continue

"What If..."

What if God was bigger and better than we thought he was?

What if His plans for you and me involved us going for the dreams in our hearts?

What if God was an extravagantly generous Father?

What if we were no longer slaves or servants, but sons of God through Jesus Christ?

What if God wanted us to take more initiative in our lives- not foolishly or presumptuously, but not fearfully either?

What if we could see other people and ourselves the… Continue

Too many funerals...

We were sitting down at dinner this evening when the phone rang...my father-in-law calling to let us know that our brother-in-law (husband of my wife's older sister) had passed away suddenly this afternoon. This came as my wife was filling me in on the plans for the memorial service this coming Friday for one of the ladies from our congregation. We've also recently had another memorial service for another elder, and it was the same day as the funeral for a Salvation Army officer my wife's… Continue

Praise, Dance & Worship True Warfare The Enemy Will Flee! - Marlene Malachi

Praising is a way of showing God we TRUST and that our hope is in HIM.

As David said: "Why are thou downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your HOPE in God, For I will yet PRAISE HIM, my Saviour and my God."

As God has saved the Jews from the bondage of Egypt, He has sent His Son to save us from the bondage of Satan. (Heb 2:15) Just as God proclaimed to Pharaoh: "Let my people go, so that they MIGHT WORSHIP ME." (Ex 9:13)

God is saying to us today:… Continue

The Silence of God

I've been hearing a lot about the story behind the song How He Love's Us so I decided to check it out tonight. It shattered my heart...

The silence of God can be so unbearably painful at times. In such quite moments we are tempted to doubt and we are tempted to despair. We scream at the heavens begging for a word from God only to hear our feeble words and broken hearts fall around us in tears and sobbing. Why does God choose to be silent at times? I don't know. I could offer… Continue

"... So the Pharisees and teachers of the law asked Jesus, 'Why don't your disciples live according to the tradition of the elders instead of eating their food with 'unclean' hands?'

He replied, 'Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you hypocrites; as it is written: 'These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.

They worship me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men.' You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to the…

Falling in Love

The Christian life is not lived by studying what Jesus did and trying, in your own strength, to duplicate it. It’s not a script to be read and acted out. It’s real life — a complete life — a meaningful life — a worthy life. It’s His life lived out through you. He becomes your life. He becomes your true love.

There’s no formula to having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, but there are patterns and examples in the Bible that we can follow. Don’t feel overwhelmed as you learn… Continue

God Reigns.

As I write, there are wars raging, children starving, and people dying yet God reigns. Its easy for us to be persuaded from this truth because our perception is often hindered by these temporal distractions. However, the eternal truth of the matter is that God reigns in holy sovereignty over His creation.

The majority of you see the number eight as you look at the picture above, but the rest of you see just a random assortment of… Continue

You can now buy my music online

Many people have been asking me how they can buy my music, so I'm proud to announce that there is now a website where you can purchase my songs and songs of other christian artists as well. I'm working with Gerald Sharp, who I met here on this website. He's been so kind as to help me get my music into the internet marketplace. Glimpse of Heavenly Worship

Every once in awhile, Scripture pulls back the curtain that divides time and eternity, and we get a brief glimpse of heavenly worship. We may crave more than a glimpse, but that's probably all we can handle; the vision is too overwhelming for inhabitants of a fallen world.

Do we have examples in the Bible of heavenly worship?

Isaiah 6:1-3 ....'In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the LORD sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the… Continue

Entrusted to Love

Entrusted to Love

"Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with God's people who are in need. Practice hospitality.

Bless those who persecute you; bless and…

Are You Ready To Lay Down Your Crowns Before The Lord And Die To Yourself So "Your House" Could Be Filled With His Glory?

Worship song:"Open the Eyes of My Heart"

"IN THE year that King Uzziah died, [in a vision] I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and the skirts of His train filled the [most holy part of the] temple. Above Him stood the seraphim; each had six wings: with two [each] covered his [own] face, and with two [each] covered his feet, and with two [each]… Continue
