Evangelism 101: So They Can Leave Their Jars Behind

John 4:1-26, 28-30, 39-41

13-15 Jesus said, "Everyone who drinks this water will get thirsty again and again. Anyone who drinks the water I give will never thirst—not ever. The water I give will be an artesian spring within, gushing fountains of endless life." The woman said, "Sir, give me this water so I won't ever get thirsty, won't ever have to come back to this well again!"

28-29 Then, leaving her water jar, the woman went back to the town and said to the people, “Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Messiah?” They came out of the town and made their way toward him.

39-41 Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman’s testimony, “He told me everything I ever did.” So when the Samaritans came to him, they urged him to stay with them, and he stayed two days. And because of his words many more became believers.

Many Christians that I speak with believe that if you do not the title "evangelist," you are not "called" to share your faith.

Many think that evangelism is only an organized event.

Many think because they do not have an out-going personality, they cannot do it.

There are many other reasons.

I'm not an expert on evangelism, but I'd like you to consider the Samaritan woman.

She came to draw water from a well where Jesus was already sitting.

After her encounter with Jesus, she left her water jar and returned to her village to tell everybody about a man who told her everything she ever did.

He told her about her sins.

Now, ask yourself, hasn't Jesus come to where you are to tell you everything about yourself?

Haven't you left behind your dead life for eternal life in Him?

Then, go, tell someone about this Jesus so they can leave their jars behind!

if you have something great or see something great you tell people about it.  The greatest thing I know is God gave his son to died for our sin and that he lives to show us way home.   So why do I so often forget to tell people about this?   I pray that every Christian on this site spends some time talking about Jesus to someone who doesn't know him (particularly me).   Holy Spirit guide us to our future brothers and sisters in Christ

Amen!  Yes!!  The Holy Spirit leads us into all truth.  Below is another way He told me think about it.

If my house was on fire, and a fireman came into the fire, brought me out and saved my life, I would be giving him so many praises.  I'd be on the news praising him.  I'd be telling my friends.  I'd be in tears praising him for saving my life.  We see this all the time on the news.  People giving praises for fireman, soldiers, people saving their physical lives.  Yet, we in Christ, often forget to tell folks about Yeshua.

He wants us to return to our first love.  Preaching the gospel!
