So I was doing my daily devotions today and I got a lot out of it. God is so good below is what i journaled about and what God shared with me in today's readings. This is my first blog of many that will include journals and just to give you all a heads up I follow a SOAP format which means my journals are in four sections Scripture Observation Application and Prayer.
1 The word came to Jeremiah concerning all the people of Judah in the fourth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah, which was the first year of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon. 2 So Jeremiah the prophet said to all the people of Judah and to all those living in Jerusalem: 3 For twenty-three years—from the thirteenth year of Josiah son of Amon king of Judah until this very day—the word of the LORD has come to me and I have spoken to you again and again, but you have not listened.
4 And though the LORD has sent all his servants the prophets to you again and again, you have not listened or paid any attention. 5 They said, "Turn now, each of you, from your evil ways and your evil practices, and you can stay in the land the LORD gave to you and your fathers for ever and ever. 6 Do not follow other gods to serve and worship them; do not provoke me to anger with what your hands have made. Then I will not harm you."
7 "But you did not listen to me," declares the LORD, "and you have provoked me with what your hands have made, and you have brought harm to yourselves."
8 Therefore the LORD Almighty says this: "Because you have not listened to my words, 9 I will summon all the peoples of the north and my servant Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon," declares the LORD, "and I will bring them against this land and its inhabitants and against all the surrounding nations. I will completely destroy a]">[a] them and make them an object of horror and scorn, and an everlasting ruin. 10 I will banish from them the sounds of joy and gladness, the voices of bride and bridegroom, the sound of millstones and the light of the lamp. 11 This whole country will become a desolate wasteland, and these nations will serve the king of Babylon seventy years.
In this passage Jeremiah is telling the people of Judah what the lord has spoken to him. The people of Judah have been ignoring the words from Jeremiah for over 30 years and God has sent many prophets to speak to them telling them to turn away form there evil and ways and to do good in the eyes of the Lord. They were instructed not to worship any other gods and not to provoke the Lord to anger and he will not harm them. Yet none of these people ever listened to them and provoked the Lord to anger and bringing harm to themselves with no one else to blame but each other. Because of this the Lord is handing the people of Judah over to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, destroying there land making it a ruin. They will no longer be joyful people and there country will be a waste land. All these people will now serve the king of Babylon.
We need to be follow the instructions of the Lord and never go against his word or the word of those he may send to us with a word. Often we push what other people say to side and ignore it all together, we don't listen to the warning and the truth. but we need to open our ears and take in what is shared with us because our Lord deserves all worship and honor. If we are told not to worship other gods or to turn form our evil ways then we need to not do those things. the Lord doesn't play around when it comes to his words. If he says he will destroy your city for doing something then he will destroy it if you disobey and there is no one to blame but yourself. I know when it comes to my life I plan to follow everything my Lord tells me whether its something he directly tells me or something he tells me through someone else....
I pray that the Lord will help me and guide me through all my trials and tribulations and that whenever the Lord has a word for me and instructions for my life, that I will follow what he tells me.
