I really enjoyed the time of fellowship this morning. There was much laughter and just a sweet sense of God's presence in our midst.
The people of God amaze me. We are so resilient that even with a lot of sad news there are always folks who have a desire to comfort and to edify.
Over the years I've often wondered why our God would choose the Church to be His way of bringing about His Kingdom. After all we're not perfect; not even close, yet here we are, God's chosen people selected for His purpose. Amazing huh? I wouldn't think to use something as flawed as The Church, with all it's divisions, infighting, hypocrisy, prejudiced attitudes, weaknesses, arrogance, self service and destructiveness. Then I find myself among saints who genuinely love and care about me. Who have a desire for me to be what God truly wants me to be and I think; Maybe it's as simple as that.
There really is something powerful in the connection we have with our brothers and sisters in Christ. Yeah, we get on each other's nerves from time to time, but maybe, just maybe it's the working through our "stuff" with a genuine love and concern for one another, that brings glory to our most worthy God.
