About Me:
Troy Smith Bio-
Troy Smith is the worship pastor of Lake Samm Foursquare Church in the greater Seattle area. ( He grew up in the Canadian Prairies and has always had a song on his heart. He met the Lord when he was 11 and quickly came to love worshipping God. While sitting in his apartment at the age of 21 he felt the still small voice of the Lord simply ask him to learn the guitar. Soon after that the Lord began to open up opportunities for him to lead worship at his church. He cut his teeth leading worship at a church plant in El Paso, TX and then spent a few years on staff with Youth with a Mission in Los Angeles ( where he helped train up worship leaders at their School of Worship. It was during these schools that Troy grew in his calling and began to write worship songs. His journey led him to the northwest where he has served the last 5 years as a worship pastor of an amazing church.
Troy recently married his amazing wife Sarah and they love to minister together discipling the youth and college students of their church.
Troy has a heart to see all nations worship their creator. He hangs on tight to Psalms 86:9 which says that “All the nations you have made will come and worship before you, O Lord; they will bring glory to your name.” Troy has ministered around the world including India, New Zealand, West Africa, Chile, Mexico, Hungary, Israel, and Belarus. He hopes to serve long term as a missionary in an unreached country.
His first studio project “O My Soul” is a collection of songs that have sprung up from his last 5 years of serving at Lake Samm Foursquare. They are songs that are filled with hope and the truth of the word. The title comes from Psalm 42:11 where David asks himself “Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God. You can check out a sample at or at The new cd is also available on Itunes.
When Troy is not playing his guitar he can be found playing racquetball, basketball, football or watching Lost and 24.
Troy is blessed to have an amazing band by his side. Bryan Barrows on Drums, Will Lees on Bass, Stephen Morse on Keys and Barrett Nelson on Electric.

Act Justly, Love Mercy, Walk Humbly

I have been stirred by a verse in Micah chapter 6 for the last year. It simply states our calling as Christians and how we should live. In verse eight it tells us what the Lord requires of us. Simply to act justly, love mercy and walk humbly before our God. I have been thinking a lot about the first requirement. What am I practically doing to bring justice to those that are being treated unfairly around the world? Did you know that slavery still exists in a lot of our world? I ran into an… Continue

“Change of pace + Change of location=Change of perspective”

I once heard this quote from a guy named Mark Batterson and it has always stuck in my head. I decided to apply this piece of wisdom a few weekends ago. My gorgeous wife Sarah and I packed up our little gray civic with some food, games, books and a lot of clothes and headed off to a little ocean town a few hours away. As soon as we entered the town we spotted a community garage sale and found some treasures including some killer… Continue
